Reopening of the Hammermuseum in Hasloch: digital technology museum with tradition

The blacksmiths and their iron hammer in Hasloch

Hasloch, 16.06.2025 | The traditional Hammermuseum in Hasloch is reopening its doors after extensive redesign – as a modern digital technology museum. The exhibition combines historical forging technology with interactive digital elements. Visitors can discover the new world of experience daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. free of charge and without prior registration. The central attraction remains the only working iron hammer in the Spessart – now embedded in a multimedia exhibition that impressively combines past and present. “Warm” guided tours of the hammer can be offered here on request.

Digital content and interactive stations

A large digital screen offers virtual tours of the museum. Several films bring the history to life: They show the development of the iron hammer, the history of the company and today´s Kurtz Ersa Group. Eyewitness accounts complement the impressions with personal memories and historical insights.

At interactive hands-on stations, visitors can experience technology for themselves – for example by playing “Hau den Lukas”, soldering a radio circuit or regulating hydropower. Models vividly explain how the historic hammers worked and how water power was used in the Hasel Valley.

“Iron hammer in action” – demonstrations with advance booking

The demonstration of the historic iron hammer offers a special experience. “Iron hammer in action” shows live how red-hot iron is worked by the huge, water-powered hammer – a fascinating interplay of water, fire and technology.
